We are going to write a persuasive essay in which we will have to justify an argument in class. We will work on this writing for two weeks. I have found some Internet resources that will help us to plan our writing and linked them up on this blog page. The writing prompt is: You are planning a trip to the moon but you are only allowed to bring three essential items with you. Write a story explaining what you would bring and the reasons why each item is so important.

Quotes:
“Honey is sweet, “and so is knowledge, but knowledge is like the bee that made that sweet honey, you have to chase it through the pages of a book.” (taken from “Thank you, Mr. Falker” )”
— Patricia Polacco
“Grampa took Mary Ellen inside away from the crowd. “Now, child, I am going to show you what my father showed me, and his father before,” he said quietly.
He spooned the honey onto the cover of one of her books. “Taste,” he said, almost in a whisper. . . .
“There is such sweetness inside of that book too!” he said thoughtfully. “Such things…adventure, knowledge and wisdom. But these things do not come easily. You have to pursue them. Just like we ran after the bees to find their tree, so you must also chase these
things through the pages of a book! “
— Patricia Polacco (The Bee Tree)

*Have someone quiz you on the definitions.
*Read over them in your spare time.
*Rewrite the words and a brief definition.
*Make flash cards with the word on one side and the definition on the back.
*Make a Wordly Wise Memory Game in which you have to match the words to the correct definition.
To help you with the flash cards here is a website that you can just plug the information into:
